NC Parks Offer Horseback Riding, Hiking and More

Horseback trail riding at one of the many state parks within 20-60 minutes driving distance of Nell's house. These parks also offer great hiking and mountain bike trails.

Trails

•Tryon International Equestrian Park is approximately 30 minutes away.
Broad River Greenway - The Broad River Greenway, actually located three miles south of Boiling Springs, NC, is a natural waterway stemming from the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hiking and walking trails are available for people, mountain bikers, and horses.The river is a great place for canoeing and tubing and there is a picnic shelter, playground, and restroom facilities are also all on site.
•Nearby Kings Mountain State Park is home to numerous special events including the Over-the-Mountain Triathlon, Kings Mountain and Crowders Mountain state parks and the Kings Mountain National Military Park.
South Mountain State Park, located in Cleveland and Burke Counties. 
Dupont National Forest - DuPont State Forest, more than 10,000 acres of forest, trails, and waterfalls between Hendersonville and Brevard, North Carolina. 
Moses Cone State Park - located in Blowing Rock, NC is an hour away and makes a great day trip for shopping, hiking and horseback riding. It has miles of beautiful mountain carriage trails for riding horses, hiking and fishing.
